2007 Annual Business Meeting another Success!
The Fall Meeting of the Michigan Charter Boat Association
was held at the Ramada Inn & Convention Center in Ludington
this year. The executive board met Friday evening as
many other members made their way to the hospitality room to
see old acquaintances and catch up on what was happening in
business and lives.
As everyone was up bright and early Saturday morning, they made their way down to the conference room. Much information
was presented by DNR officials as to the state of
Michigan fisheries and resources. There was time for many
questions to be asked and many answers were given. We heard
from the DNR and Coastguard regarding Coastguard boardings,
Implementation of the TWIC card (Transportation
worker identification card), Documentation of Vessels, PML
lights on all life vests, and boat inspections.
(see presidents report)
Dan O'Keefe was outstanding in the overseeing of the MCBA program (he has
taken over Chuck Pistis position).
The evening festivities started with an excellent meal (no
desert). After the meal awards were presented. This years
MCBA Award was presented to Captain Willis Kerridge for
outstanding service to MCBA.
This years Pistis Award was
presented to Mr. Ray Underwood for all of his advising and
assisting MCBA when ever needed. Congratulations to these
outstanding recipients.
MCBA was indeed honored to have as
our guest speaker this year, Dennis Muchmore. Dr. Muchmore
serves as the Executive Director for MUCC. Muchmore was a
founding partner of Muchmore, Harrington, Smalley & Associates, a leading Michigan public affairs firm. We were indeed
fortunate to have Dr. Muchmore with us this year.
The evening culminated with many raffle prizes being
given out thanks to the person in charge of getting prizes this
year, Captain Frank English.
Thanks to the dedicated work of
Dan O'Keefe and Captain Jim Fenner, this years fall meeting
will be remembered as an outstanding gathering.
